Depression over Southeast Bay

Staff Correspondent: The depression over Southeast Bay and adjoining area moved north-northeastwards, intensified into a deep depression over East-Central Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay (near lat 14.1on and long 89.9oe).

The deep depression was centred about 925 kms South-Southwest of Chittagong port, 850 kms South-Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 930 kms South of Mongla port and 880 kms South of Payra port at 6 pm on Saturday, said a MET office release.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a North-Northeasterly direction further.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre, it added.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal no. one (r) one.

All fishing boat and trawler over North Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
