Raise mass resistance against torture on women

Staff Correspondent: Women leaders under the banner of Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra (BNK), a women's rights organisation, urged all to raise mass resistance against torture on women.

The organisation held a demonstration in front of National Press Club in the capital on Friday afternoon demanding exemplary punishment of all rapists, molesters and the persons who abet in such crime including Banani rape accused Shafat Ahmed.

With Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra President Sima Dutt in the chair, the organisation’s general secretary Monidipa Bhattacharya, its member Naima Khaled Monika and its Dhaka unit member Sushmita Roy spoke on the occasion.

Speakers in the protest rally demanded immediate trials in Banani rape incident, gang rape of a school girl in Jurain, rape of a woman in name of husband’s bail in Narayanganj and many such incidents that took place recently.

They called upon the conscientious people of the society to raise mass resistance against such inhuman crimes.
