Col Taher’s 35th death anniv observed

DHAKA, July 21: The 35th death anniversary of Colonel Taher Dibash, veteran freedom fighter and sector commander of the war of liberation, was observed on Sunday.

On the occasion, Col Taher Sangsad and other organisations placed flowers at his portrait in Col Taher Auditorium at the city`s Bangabandhu Avenue in the morning and are organising different programmes paying tribute to his memories.

Col Taher Sangsad organised a discussion in TSC auditorium, Dhaka University at 4:30pm. US journalist and author Lawrence Lifschultz was the key speaker at the discussion.

Prominent US journalist Lorenz Leafshuljat presented the keynote paper at the discussion titled ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere: The struggle for justice in the Taher case.’

Hasanul Haque Inu, Haider Akbar Khan Rono, Selina Hossain and Shahdin Malik also addressed the discussion.
Meanwhile, Col Taher Sangsad in a press release demanded the government to observe the day nationally.
