Staff Correspondent:  A Canadian fugitive, who is wanted for advocating genocide against Jews, is staying in Dhaka, said a Canadian media.

According to the Canadian media report, Salman Hossain, a Canadian extremist, fled Canada earlier this year during a police investigation into use of the Internet to promote terrorist violence.

The report claimed that fugitive Salman has recently been photographed in Dhaka.

International news agency Interpol has issued a red notice to find out the leader of the extremist. But the intelligence agencies have started monitoring whether Salman is staying in the country.

On Wednesday, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG / Interpol) Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan told risingbd that "Most wanted accused in Canada Salman whether he is staying in the country, it is still uncertain. Detectives have started working”.

Monirul Islam, head of the Counter Terrorism Unit of Police, said, "We have known about Salman. We are looking for him. But no one has yet officially told us about it.”

Police say that Salman is really staying in Bangladesh, it cannot be confirmed. The Canadian government or any organization in the country did not provide any information about this.

Salman is the subject of an Ontario Provincial Police warrant and an Interpol notice that urges police worldwide to locate and arrest him.

“That individual is still wanted,” acting staff Sgt. Peter Leon of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) of Canada was quoted to have said.

The OPP conducted the investigation that resulted in Salman becoming the first person charged in Canada with advocating genocide, the media report further said.

It mentioned Salman was charged with the crime in July 2010 and he is facing a total of five counts that could see him imprisoned for 16 years.
