Holiday for health officials in 5 dists cancelled

Senior Correspondent: The government has cancelled holiday for the officers and employees of health department in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and three hill districts-- Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari following the landslides caused by heavy rain.

Stern action will be taken against those who will be found absent, it warned.

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim told a press briefing at the health ministry conference room in the Bangladesh secretariat on Wednesday.

Nasim said a total of 483 medical teams of the health department are ensuring treatment for landslide victims in those districts.

"At this moment, people will have to live first and we are giving priority on it. Adequate medicines are being given among the victims. We have launched control rooms there. We are monitoring all the time," the minister said.
