Mobile phone sets, cigarettes seized at Dhaka airport

Staff Correspondent: Custom intelligence officials have seized 372 cartons of illegal cigarettes worth and 18 pieces of mobile phones from four people at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Director General of Customs Intelligence Moinul Khan confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Tuesday.

Custom intelligence sources said that acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers detained four passengers this morning and found the banned cigarettes.

The detainees are- Jasim, Saiful Islam, Ripon and Majharul Islam. All of them travelled from Malaysia on US-Bangla Airlines.

Bangladesh prohibits importing foreign-made cigarettes that do not have an anti-smoking warning written in Bangla on the packets.
