12,000 staff to clean sacrificial animal waste in DSCC

Staff Correspondent: About 12,000 staff will start their cleaning mission to remove the wastes of sacrificial animals from the Dhaka North City Corporation (DSCC) in the capital.
The cleaning staff of Dhaka City Corporations South will start working at 2:00pm on Saturday and will work round the clock for the next 48-hour. The authority will provide 350 vehicles and other necessary equipments to run the cleaning process smoothly.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has fixed 625 places, dividing whole area into several regions, for sacrificing animals on the day of Eid-al-Azha.
DSCC Chief Waste Management Officers Commodore Shafiqul Alam said that about 4 lakh 75 thousands animals would be slaughtered this year. There would be an additional 18,000 tonnes of waste from sacrificial animals generated on the occasion.
The DSCC helpline — 09611000999 — was meant for complaints over waste management during Eid vacation, he added.
