Staff Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel have found three dead bodies after starting a sweep of the six-storey building at Mazar Road in Mirpur on Wednesday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Earlier this morning, RAB sent a drone to check the overall situation before starting the drive.
Fire Service Deputy Director Debashish Bardhan said three units entered the building to find out fire in the building first. The fire originated from chemical elements in the building on Tuesday night.
A huge number of RAB personnel started operation at the building at about 8:45am on Wednesday.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) media wing Director Mufti Mahmud told risingbd that as part of the drive; the law enforcers conducted a search operation at the first to fifth floor of the building and found three bodies in a room of the fifth floor.
In reply to another question, the RAB official said, bomb disposal units entered into the building. Taking all types of prevention measures, the law enforcers joined the drive.
Earlier, a sound of terrible explosion was heard from the militant hideout on Tuesday night. After the explosion no response was found from the hideout.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) cordoned off the building at Mazar road from early Tuesday, suspecting it to be a militant hideout.
On Monday, RAB detained two militants in a drive at a house in Mosinda area of Kalihati upazila under Tangail district.
Based on the information given by the two detainees, RAB members conducted the raid in the capital’s Mirpur area.
