16th amendment: Govt to file review against SC verdict

Staff Correspondent: The government will file a review petition seeking cancellation of the full verdict of the Supreme Court (SC) that scrapped the 16th constitutional amendment empowering the parliament to remove SC judges for incapacity or misbehavior.
Law Minister Anisul Huq told this to the reporters after a meeting with 11-member team formed in this regard at Attorney General Office of the SC on Saturday noon.
"Preparations are going on. The review petition will be filed in current month," Law Minister added.
Earlier, the Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and the 10-member team formed to assist him held a meeting with the Law Minister over the matter.
The meeting started at Attorney General's SC office around 12:00pm on Saturday.
