Tk 2,217cr collected in 7 days of tax fair

Economic Correspondent: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has collected a total of Tk 2,217 crore in seven days of Income Tax Fair held across the country.

The collection of tax has increased 4.12 percent from Tk 2,212 crore in last year's fair.

The Tax Fair ended on Tuesday (November 7) which was launched by the State Minister of Finance & Planning M A Mannan at NBR Bhaban (under construction) at Agargaon in Dhaka on November 1.

Around 350,000 taxpayers submitted their returns in the weeklong income tax fair. A number 11,70,000 received services.

Senior public relation officer of NBR Syed A Mumen confirmed the news.

On the final day on Tuesday alone, the NBR collected tax worth Tk 426 crore and 20 lakh with 66,333 returns. Some 2,25,459 people were served on the day.

The NBR served the visitors until around midnight.

On the final day, the tax fair was held at 48 spots across the country including the capital Dhaka. The Income Tax Fair was held in 56 districts, 34 upazilas setting up booths. Apart from this, mobile tax fair was held in 71 upazilas as well.
