5 killed in Kishoreganj clash

Kishoreganj Correspondent: Five people, including three brothers, were killed and 20 others injured in a clash between two groups in Charipara village of Dhakai union under Mithamain upazila in Kishoreganj district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Razib Mia, Mukul Mia, Masud, Makhon and Ferdous.

Sources said that the groups of Maruf and Nabab-Masud locked into the clash over establishing supremacy around 1:30pm on Thursday, leaving three brothers Masud, Makhon and Ferdous dead on the spot and injured others.

Later, the injured Razib Mia and Mukul Mia died on the way of hospital.

Mithamain upazila nirbahi officer Pali Ahmed confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mithamain police station said that there was a long-lasting enmity over the right to fish in a canal. The death toll may increase.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area, the OC added.
