EC sends letter to authority concerned to ensure security

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has sent a letter to the authorities concerned in ensuring tight security sensing possible militant attacks.

EC joint secretary Farhad Ahmed Khan on Sunday said that centering next polls in six city corporations and national election, the EC sent letter to Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure security tight security measures.

There is a schedule to hold next general election in between October 30, 2018 to January 28, 2019. Besides, EC will organize city corporation polls before the parliament election.

Fearing the possible militant attacks in several spots of the country, EC asked the authority concerned to ensure security in Election Bhabans.

The office of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and election commissioners are situated in Election Bhaban in Agargaon. Besides, EC secretariat and Electoral Training Institute (ETI) are also located in the area. Political parties, ministers, members of the parliament, foreigner and eminent personalities regularly visit the Election Bhaban.

So, EC is a sensitive and constitutional institute. But, recently several media have reported that militant attack may take place across the country.

Considering overall security issues, the EC directed the authorities to take tight security measures.
