HC orders to reopen Lakehead school

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has ordered to reopen Lakhead Grammar School of the capital's Gulshan and Dhanmondi within 24 hours which was shut down on charges of militancy and extremism affiliations.

The High Court also directed the school authorities to assist investigators in probe if allegation of militancy and extremism is raised against the institution in the future.

The High Court bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan came up with the order.

Khaled Hassan Matin, a proprietor of the school and guardians of 12 students, filed three petitions challenging the legality of the decision to shut down the branches of the school.

Senior lawyer AF Hassan Arif, Barrister Akhter Imam and Barrister Rashna Imam moved for the petition while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state in the court.
