Muggers in guise of DB loot Tk40 lakh

Staff Correspondent: Muggers introducing themselves as law enforcers reportedly snatched Tk 40 lakh from a staff of a readymade garment factory in Uttara of the capital Dhaka on Wednesday.

Locals said that some men carrying DB kits including walkie-talkies, handcuffs, and firearms intercepted the car used by the staff around 12:45pm after he came out of a private bank withdrawing the money.

Later, the muggers forcibly got into the car and snatched the money after taking them in Kuril Biswa road area. Then the criminals got off the car and fled the scene in another car.

Noor-e-Azam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Airport Police Station, said the criminals in guise of the members of detective branch (DB) of police reportedly snatched the money from the official of ‘Tokio Mode’ on Rood no. 12 in Uttara’s Sector-2 around this noon.

A case has been filed in this regard, the OC said.
