Train, covered van collision kills 2 in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Two people were killed and three others injured as Khulna-bound ‘Chitra Express’ hit a covered van at a level crossing at Salna on Tuesday night.

According to sources, the accident took place when the covered van of ‘TM Fashion’ was crossing the rail track around 9:30 pm, leaving the two passengers of van dead on the spot and 3 others injured.

One of the deceased was identified as Md Selim Ahmed (27), hailing from Sonchor village under Phulpur Thana in Mymensingh. He was an employee of TM Fashon.

Following the accident, train services remained suspended till 12:20 pm.

The injured were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital while two of them were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
