PM stands by former Ctg MP Yusuf

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended her helping hands towards ailing former member of the parliament (MP) Mohammad Yusuf.
The premier ordered the Chittagong Deputy Commissioner to ensure the proper treatment of the ex-MP. She took the quick steps after the news of the former MP’s health and living condition came to her notice through social media.
Following the PM's direction, the government took responsibility for the treatment of ailing Mohammad Yusuf from Sunday. As per directive, Chittagong civil surgeon Dr Azizul Islam Siddiqi went to the residence of the former lawmaker and took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Later, the Ex-MP was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
CMCH Director Brigadier General Jalal Uddin said, "All types of steps were taken to ensure better treatment of Mohammad Yusuf in the ICU. He got a stroke. Now he is in unconscious state. He is now getting treatment under the supervision of the Medicine Dept Chief Dr Ashok Kumar Dutta".
Dr Ashok Kumar Dutta, "Md Yusuf has been suffering from various diseases, including old age complications. We formed a special medical board. A cabin was allotted for him in the hospital."
Mohammad Yusuf was elected MP from Rangunia of Chittagong as a candidate of the Communist Party in the 1991 parliamentary elections.
