Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has deferred the leave to appeal hearing on a High Court (HC) verdict that declared mobile courts under executive magistrates as unconstitutional.
The SC fixed next Tuesday for hearing in the case.
Meanwhile, the court also ordered that mobile court could be run under executive magistrates until the appeal disposed of.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by the Acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahab Mia passed the order on Tuesday.
Barrister Hassan SM Azim moved for the writ petition while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Sazu represented the state in the court.
Earlier on May 11, the High Court declared unconstitutional the rules under which executive magistrates run mobile courts.
