BNP leader Helal, 31 others remanded

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has placed BNP's  information affairs secretary Azizul Bari Helal and 31 others on remand in a case filed with Ramna Police Station under Special Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ahsan Habib passed the order on Thursday evening.

The convicts 31 were placed on a five-day remand while one Mujibur Rahman on a day.

The remanded convicts include Hassan Mamun, BNP executive committee member and former president of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal, Shantuno Islam Sumit, son of former Forest and Environment Minister Tatiqul Islam, Farukul Islam Selim, Personal Secretary (PS) of BNP Chairperson's Advisor Abdus Salam, and Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal leader Hafiz Al-Mahmud.

The court also rejected remand pleas for Mohila Dal leader Lutfun Nahar Lovely and Junu Begum.

Earlier, Md Saiful Islam Khan, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Detective Branch (DB) of Police, also investigation officer (IO) of the case, sought a 10-day remand for each in the case.
