Staff Correspondent: Law Minister Anisul Huq reiterated that the Section 32 of the proposed Digital Security Act will not affect journalists and it will not appear as an obstacle for them in terms of doing investigative journalism.

The minister said this at a programme titled ‘Meet the press’ at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) in the city on Tuesday.

Anisul Huq said, “If any journalist is affected by the Section 32 of the proposed act, I will move a legal fight on behalf of the journalists at free of cost.”

He said the proposed act is not being formulated targeting journalists and assured that investigative journalism will be protected.

If necessary, the government will include a provision in the proposed law to protect investigative journalism for the public interest, he added.

Law Reporters’ Forum President Ashutosh Sarkar presided over the programme.
