Staff Correspondent: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary urged the countrymen not be worried about the verdict in a graft case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The newly appointed IGP made the call at a press briefing at Media centre of Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.

“Law and order situation will be monitored very closely tomorrow. Don’t pay any heed to rumours. Nothing will happen tomorrow,” he told the press briefing.

He said if any person or quarter tries to deteriorate law and order situation and public security, law enforcers will handle it strictly and deal it legally.

Security measures have been beefed up across the country including the capital to maintain law and order situation and protect public security, the IGP also said.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) yesterday imposed ban on procession and carrying sharp weapons, explosives, flammable materials, sticks in Dhaka tomorrow to avert any untoward incident centring a verdict in a graft case of Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The ban will be effective from 4:00am tomorrow and continue until further notice.
