69 platoons of BGB deployed, 65 more ready

Staff Correspondent: At least 69 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country including Dhaka City over the verdict of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case scheduled on February 8.

Alongside, 65 more platoons of BGB members have been kept ready to prevent any unwanted incident over the issue.

Mohsin Reza, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB), confirmed the news on Wednesday evening.

He said, "69 platoons of BGB were deployed in 27 districts of the country to help protecting law and order situation by the request of the administration."

He also gave a brief list of deploying BGB in the districts as 20 platoons in Dhaka, 3 platoons in Sirajganj, Bogra and Naraganganj each, 2 platoons in Feni and a platoon each in Noakhali, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Pirojpur, Barisal, Bagerhat, Natore, and Kishoreganj.

"65 more platoons of BGB have also been kept ready for any urgent requirement which includes 5 platoons for Dhaka and Cox's Bazar each, 4 platoons for each Khulna, Rajshahi and Khagrachhari, two platoons for Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Brahmanbaria each, one platoon for Kurigram and 7 platoons for Chittagong," he added.
