94pc of women sexually harassed on public transports

Staff Correspondent: At least 94 percent of women were sexually harassed on public transports in the country. 81 percent women kept silence rather than raising voice while 79 percent left the places where they faced harassment.

The findings came out in a study conducted by Brac, non-government organization, during April-June in 2017.

Brac released the report where some 415 women of cities, municipalities and villages expressed their experiences on public transports.

According to the report, every day more and more women go out with the risk of harassment on roads and public transports.

“They face more sexually harassments on public transports. They face harassment verbally on roads, but on public transports, they have to tolerate physical harassment, the report revealed.
