Pilot Abid Sultan’s wife suffers stroke

Staff Correspondent: Afsana Khanom, wife of pilot Abid Sultan who died in the US-Bangla aircraft crash in Nepal’s Kathmandu, has been hospitalised as she suffered a stroke on Sunday morning.

She was admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital of the capital’s Agargaon. She was kept at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Sheuli Akter Neela, Information Desk Official of the hospital, said, “Afsana was admitted to the hospital around 12:00pm.”

She said, “She is receiving treatment under Dr Badrul Alam, Joint Director of the institute. She underwent a surgery on decision of medical board of the hospital.”

“There is nothing to say about her physical condition until she goes 12 hours since the surgery,” she added.

Pilot Abid Sultan of the US-Bangla flight and all four cabin crew members died in the crash on March 12 that claimed the lives of 51 people.

On that day, flight BS211 took off from Dhaka around 12:51pm with 32 Bangladeshis, 33 Nepalese, and one each from the Maldives and China.
