99 percent people brought under healthy sanitation

Senior Correspondent: LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said Bangladesh has been brought around 99 percent people under healthy sanitation network. The government is also working to ensure a source of pure drinking water for every 50 people.

The Minister told this to the Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla while he called on him at his Secretariat office on Thursday noon.

Earlier, the Indian High Commissioner expressed his country's interest to work for the solid waste management in Bangladesh's city corporations and to supply machineries to the corporations.

Shringla hoped that the project of installing LED lights in the areas of Dhaka North and South, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Chattogram city corporations will soon be completed.

During the meeting, Mosharraf also said Bangladesh and India have been maintaining friendly relations since long as Bangladesh always gets India beside her.

Senior Secretary of Local Government Division Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan, Second Secretary of Indian High Commission Shishir Kothari and high officials of the ministry were present.
