Nine killed in Narsingdi road crashes

Narsingdi Correspondent: At least nine people were killed and 20 others injured in three separate road accidents in Raipura upazila, Baghata and Madhabdi areas of Sadar upazila in the district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Yeamin Mia, 23, son of Sultan Uddin, Dalim Mia, 17, son of Hafiz Uddin, Sohag Mia, 17, son of Suruj Mia, Ramzan Mia, 17, son of Asad Mia, Ratan, 44, Noyon, 26, son of Taher Uddin Tahur, Mokbul Hossain, 52, Kamrul, 35 and his wife Masura Begum, 26.

Police and witnesses said that Habiganj-bound a passenger bus rammed an auto-rickshaw and a jaywalker on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabdi area of Sadar upazila around 1:00pm, leaving three people dead on the spot and injured 20 others.

The driver and helper of the bus fled the scene.

Meanwhile, a Dhaka-bound microbus collided with a motorcycle in Baghata area of the same highway, leaving two bike riders Kamrul and his wife Mansura dead on the spot.

Besides, four motorcyclists were killed when a bus hit a motorbike on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the district’s Raipura upazila around 8:00am on Friday.
