‘Necessary steps taken for Khaleda’s treatment’

Staff Correspondent: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim has said necessary steps have been taken for proper treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. There would be no negligence with her treatment.
"Begum Zia today (Saturday) went to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for her medical checkup. We gave the hospital authority to take all necessary directives to take proper care of her,” he added.
The Minister said this while inaugurating a programme organized marking the World Health Day at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Saturday.
Nasim said, “She (Begum Khaleda Zia) is a former Prime Minister of the country. Now she is behind the bars as per the directives of the court. She must deserve advanced treatment.”
The Minister, for BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, said they demanded for Khaleda Zia’s treatment at a private hospital. BSMMU is a reputed hospital of the country. There are facilities for better treatment. They have to keep faith on us. She must receive advanced treatment.”
State Minister of the Ministry Zahid Maleque, Secretary (Medical Education and Family Welfare Division) Faiz Ahmed, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin and World Health Organisation (WHO) representative to Bangladesh Dr Bardan Jung Rana also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
