Rape accused killed in gunfight with RAB

Staff Correspondent, Jashore: A rape case accused was killed in a gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Mandalgati area of Jashore Sadar upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Alamin alias Babu, 25, son of late Abul Kalam, hailed Kolonipara area in Kholadanga of the sadar.

RAB-6 Jashore Camp Commander Major Ziaur Rahman said acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted drive in the area. Meanwhile, sensing the presence of, RAB personnel, the criminals opened fire which triggered the gunfight.

At one stage, the criminals fled the scene. Later, a bullet-hit body was found there and sent to Jashore Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead. 

A one-shooter gun, a round of bullet and a knife were recovered from the spot.

Earlier on March 30, Alamin alias Babu raped a eight-year-old minor girl in Chachra Dakkhinpara in Jashore sadar upazila.
