EC appeals against HC stay

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has filed an appeal challenging the High Court order staying the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election for three months.
EC lawyer Obaidur Rahman Mostafa confirmed the matter.
Earlier this morning, Obaidur Rahman Mostafa said that the commission will file an appeal against the HC order today.
On May 6 (Sunday), the HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed stayed the Gazipur City Corporation election for three months in response to a petition by a Savar upazila Awami League leader.
The Gazipur city election was scheduled to be held on May 15.
