BGB-BGP conference begins

Staff Correspondent: A four-day conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) began at BGB headquarters in Peelkhana here on Monday morning.

BGB’s public relations officer Muhammad Mohsin Reza said the 4-day conference will be held between senior officials of BGB and BGP. The conference will conclude on July 12 by signing a “Joint Record of Discussions (JRD).

An 11-member Myanmar delegation led by Chief of Police General Staff Brigadier General Myo Than joined the conference, he said.

Besides, a 15-member BGB delegation led by BGB Additional Director General Brigadier General Md Anisur Rahman also joined event, he said.

High officials of Home and Foreign Ministries and Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) are among Bangladeshi delegation apart from BGB officials.

The agenda of the conference are prevention of smuggling of contraband drugs, stopping intrusion of Myanmar nationals in Bangladesh and others.
