Youth killed in Chowgacha ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: A youth named Ratan (27) was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two groups of terrorists in the district’s Chowgacha upazila early Friday.

The gunfight took place near Koyarpara Bazar of Chowgacha-Jessore road.

The deceased Ratan was the son of Abu Bokkor alias Bakkar.

Officer-in-Charge of Chowgacha Police Station Khondokar Samimuddin said on information about the gunfight between the rival groups of drug peddlers, a police team went to the area and recovered the bullet-hit body of Ratan.

He was taken to Jessore General Hospital where on duty doctor Shafiullah Sabuj said Ratan had died already.

Raton was accused in many narcotics cases, the OC also said, adding that the criminals fled from the scene sensing presence of the law enforcers.
