Oishee among five questioned at DB office

DHAKA, Aug 17: Five people were questioned at the office of detective branch of police at Minto Road in the capital in connection with the gruesome murder of Special Branch (SB) Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman.

They include Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman`s daughter Oishee, her friends Trisha and Rony, maidservant and younger brother of Oishee`s mother.

Earlier, the detectives conducted drives in different parts of the capital along with detained Oishee Rahman, daughter of slain Special Branch (SB) Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman.

"Some other people, perhaps Oishee`s friends were also involved in the killing of the couple and we are trying to arrest them," police said.

The 17-year-old Oishee, who went into hiding since her parents were found murdered on Friday, surrendered to the Paltan Police Station early afternoon on Saturday.

After detaining her, police took her to the office of deputy commissioner (DC) of Motijheel Division and later to the detective branch (DB) office at Minto Road.

Police thinks that the couple was killed according to the plan of daughter Oishee. After the killing of the parents, Oishee went into hiding.

SB Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman`s bodies were recovered from the Chamelibagh rented residence on Friday evening.

Relatives said Oishee`s father and mother could not accept the indisciplined lifestyle of their daughter in any way. Because of this, they ordered the guard of the residence not to allow Oishee to go outside alone. But, the daughter subsequently appeared to be great threat to the lives of her parents.

Earlier, detectives arrested two guards--Shahinur and Abdul Motaleb--of the residence in connection with the double murders.

Being confirmed that Oishee was involved in the killing, the detectives investigating the case said after the killing of parnets, Oishee left the house secretly.

Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman`s have two children. Daughter Oishee Rahman, 16 and sone Ohee Rahman, 7. Oishee Rahman is a student of `O` Level of Oxford International School at Dhanmondi in the capital, while Ohee Rahman reads in Class II at Rajarbagh Police Line School.
