Severe vehicles crisis in capital

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka city commuters are suffering from severe vehicle crisis due to the effect of student protest in the capital.

The transport owners shut their vehicles showing security excuse on roads from Thursday. As a result, the city dwellers face transport crisis.

However, some BRTC and Trust Paribahan vehicles were seen plying on roads from this morning.

Office-bound people face serious problem as there is no public transport on city streets. Some of them were seen walking or using CNG auto-rickshaw paying additional fare.

Besides, most of the long route transports were seen parked at capital's bus terminal.

The fear of attack on roads forced the transports to stop the service, claimed transport owners.

Confirming the matter, Bus-Truck owners association said that the transport owners stopped their service due to security concern.

The students started their demonstration demanding safe roads following the death of two college students in a road crash in the capital's Kurmitola area on July 29. Later, the movement spread out to divisions and district towns.
