Jabal-e-Noor's driver gives confessional statement

Staff Correspondent: Masum Billah, driver of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan, has given a confessional statement to a Dhaka court in connection with a case filed over the accident that killed two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College on the city's Airport Road on July 29.
Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Qazi Shariful Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Masum before the court on Wednesday on the completion of seven-day remand. The investigation officer filed a petition to the court to record the confessional statement of Masum as he agreed to give it willingly.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi recorded his statement following the petition. Later, Masum was sent to jail.
Earlier, on August 1, the court placed Masum Billah on a seven-day remand.
Later on August 7, the court placed two other drivers and helpers of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan on seven days' remand each, in connection with a case filed over the accident that killed two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College on the city's Airport Road on July 29. Two buses of the company were recklessly competing with each other to pick up passengers, causing the accident.
Those remanded are bus drivers Jubair Hossain and Sohag Ali, and helpers Mohammad Ripon and Enayet Hossain.
