500 more seats increased at public medical colleges

Secretariat Correspondent: The government has taken a decision to increase the number of seats by 500 for admission to MBBS course at public medical colleges from the academic session of 2018-2019.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at the secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday with Health Minister Mohammad Nasim in the chair.

The government has taken the decision of increasing the number of seats by 500 for admission to MBBS course to ensure quality medical care for the people of the Upazila and unions level across the country, considering the pressure of increasing population, according to a statement sent to the health ministry.

At present, there are 31 state-run medical colleges in the country which have a total of 3,318 seats for admission to MBBS course.

State minister for health Jahid Malek and its secretary G M Saleh Uddin, among others, were present at the meeting.
