Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has kept pending till August 13 a petition filed against a High Court order that directed the authorities to send detained photographer Shahidul Alam to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for his treatment.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Thursday.
Following a writ petition filed by Shahidul’s wife Rahnuma Ahmed, the High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to send Shahidul to BSMMU for his treatment and medical tests.
As per the court order, Shahidul Alam was taken to BSMMU on Wednesday but he was taken back to the office of the Detective Branch of police after doctors said they found no health issues requiring his hospitalisation.
The government on Wednesday also filed a petition with the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the High Court order.
Meanwhile on Thursday, BSMMU authorities submitted the medical report through the attorney general’s office.
