Jabal-e-Noor's owner gives confessional statement

Staff Correspondent: Md Shahadat Hossain, owner of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan, has given a confessional statement to a Dhaka court in connection with a case filed over the accident that killed two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College on the city's Airport Road on July 29.
Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Qazi Shariful Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Shahadat before the court on Thursday on the completion of seven-day remand. The investigation officer filed a petition to the court to record the confessional statement of Shahadat as he agreed to give it willingly.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi recorded his statement following the petition. Later, Shahadat was sent to jail.
Shahadat in his confessional statement said he was the owner of the ill-fated bus (Dhaka Metro B-11-9297). Masum Billah was the driver of that bus.
He admitted that Masum Billah was appointed as the driver of the bus without verifying his driving license.
Earlier, on August 2, the court placed Shahadat Hossain on a seven-day remand.

Two buses of the company were recklessly competing with each other to pick up passengers, causing the accident.
Those remanded are bus drivers Jubair Hossain and Sohag Ali, and helpers Mohammad Ripon and Enayet Hossain.
