Jabal-e-Noor to pay Tk 5 lakh to each victims’ families

Staff Correspondent: The authorities of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan will pay Tk 5 lakh to each of the families of two students who were killed in the road crash on Airport Road in the capital on July 29.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) submitted a report in this regard to the High Court (HC) bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam on Sunday.

Later, the court fixed October 7 for its order in this regard.

Pankaj Kumar Kundu moved for Jabal-e-Noor in the court while Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal for the writ petition.

Petitioner lawyer Ruhul Quddus said, “Jabal-e-Noor will pay Tk 5 lakh to each of the victim’s family. They sought time for this. But the court rejected their petition.”

“Besides, the court fixed October 7 for hearing on the report of BRTA over its process to provide licenses to the drivers and safety for pedestrians,” he added.

Earlier on July, the HC came up with the order of paying Tk 5 lakh to each of the victim’s family.
