Photographer Shahidul sent to jail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Sunday sent noted photographer Shahidul Alam to jail following a seven-day remand in a case filed under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

On Sunday evening, Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) Arman Ali, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced Shahidul before the court and as his remand ended. The IO sought an order to keep the photographer confined in the jail until the investigation ends.

After hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Fahad Bin Amin Chowdhury passed the order.

Shahidul was remanded for seven days in the case on August 6.

Earlier, Drik Gallery owner Dr Shahidul Alam was picked up from his Dhanmondi residence on August 5.
