Court rejects bail of 8 more pvt varsity students

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court here on Monday rejected the bail petitions of eight more private university students in two cases filed over vandalism and attacks on police during the student movement demanding road safety.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order when two lawyers advocate Rakibul Hasan and advocate Ashrafuzzaman Didar sought bail for them in the two cases filed with Badda and Bhatara Police stations.

The accused are Saber Ahmed Ullash, Mohammad ShihabShahrier, Shakhawat Hossain Nijhum, Zahidul Haq, Nur Mohammad, Rashedul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahman and Mohammad Hasan.

They are students of East West University and North South University.

Earlier on Sunday, the court rejected bail petition of four other private university students---Torikul Islam, Redwan Ahmed, Mashad Murtaza Ahad, and Azizul Karim Antar-- in the two cases.

Earlier on August 9, 22 private university students were denied bail and sent to jail on the completion of their 2-day remand in the cases.

On August 6, the students of the two private universities locked into a clash with police while holding demonstrations against the attack on students during their movement for safe road in the city.
