2 students' death: Charge sheet by this week accusing 6

Staff Correspondent: Accusing six people, a charge sheet over the deaths of two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College in a road accident on Airport Road in the city will be submitted to the court by this week, said officials of Detective Branch (DB).

Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), came up with the revelation at the DMP media centre on Monday.

Abdul Baten said, "DB police was given the charge to investigate the case filed over the road mishap. People concerned were arrested after taking up the charge. The investigation is at the final stage and it will be submitted to the court by this week."

Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, were killed as a bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road on July 29.

A case was filed over the accident on the day.

Angered by the incident, students took to the streets demanding safe roads and at one stage, they went on a rampage vandalising whatever buses they found before them.

In the face of massive protests, members of law enforcement agencies arrested two drivers and two helpers from different parts of the capital in connection with the July 29 bus accident that left the two college students dead.

The arrestees were ‘Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan’ bus drivers Sohagh Ali and Mohammad Zubayer, and two helpers – Enayet Hossain and Mohammad Ripon.
