Gatco case: Court fixes Oct 18 for charge-framing hearing

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka special court on Thursday deferred to October 18 the hearing of forming charge in Gatco corruption case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Judge Abu Syed Diljar of Dhaka Special Court-3 installed at Alia Madrasha of Bakshibazar in Old Dhaka fixed October 18 for hearing on forming charge in the case.

The case was scheduled to hear on Thursday. But, the lawyers of two other accused-Tanvir Ahmed and Galib Hossain of the same case pleaded for adjourning the hearing as the High Court earlier issued stay order for the duo.

On the other hand, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal appealed before the court seeking production warrant against Khaleda Zia.

Later, the court fixed the new date rejecting production warrant appeal.

However, Khaleda Zia's lawyer Sanaullah Mia appeared before the court on behalf of her.

On September 2, 2007, ACC filed the Gatco corruption case with Tejgaon police station against Khaleda Zia, and 11 others.
