Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking the authorities concerned as to why photographer Dr Shahidul Alam should not be granted bail in an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) case filed against him.
The authorities were asked to forward replies within a week.
The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman came up with the rule on Sunday.
Barrister Sara Hossain moved for Shahidul Alam while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah represented the state in the court.
Shahidul filed a petition with the HC seeking bail to him for the second time on September 18.
Earlier, on September 4, the HC bench of Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman felt embarrassed to hear the bail petition of Shahidul in the case filed for allegedly spreading propaganda and false information against the government.
The court on August 12 ordered to send Shahidul to jail in the ICT case.
Earlier on August 6, The noted photographer was placed in remand for six days in the case filed with Ramna Police Station after Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) of Police sought a remand.
