Senior Correspondent: The five-member medical board of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Sunday could not start treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who was shifted there in line with a High Court (HC) order.
Though it was supposed to begin her treatment since Sunday, the medical team could not start it on the day as they could not meet Khaleda Khaleda Zia even after their visit.
Brig Gen Abdullah Al Harun, director of BSMMU, said this at briefing in the hospital on Sunday.
He said, “Team members went there between 11:30am to 11:45am. They waited there, but failed to meet her. However, they checked Khaleda’s prescription. A board meeting will be held at any time on Monday.”
The director said, “A freshed board has been formed in line with the court order in this regard. Physicians of the board are not member of executive committees of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) or Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad (Sachip).”
In reply to a query, he said, “Khaleda Zia’s health condition is unchanged. She is currently at same state like at the time her admission to the hospital.”
In reply to another query, the director said, “She needs not to be shifted to any other hospital. Her proper treatment will be provided here.”
