Nine-member cell formed to detect rumours

Secretariat Correspondent: The government has formed a nine-member monitoring cell to detect rumours on social networking sites.

The monitoring cell formed with Press Information Department (PID) officials led by senior information official Rifat Jafrin will provide media information about the rumours after unearthing the facts.

State Minister for Information Ministry Tarana Halim told this to the reporters after a meeting over defining the activities and co-operation of the ‘Rumours Detection Cell’ held at the conference centre of the ministry at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

She said, “The Information Ministry will start the activities through the monitoring cell this month. The cell will work to detect rumours and to provide media about it.”
