Man shot dead by dacoits in Ashulia

Staff Correspondent: A man was gunned down by some dacoits in Durgapur area of Ashulia union in Savar, outskirts of the capital.

The deceased was identified as Abul Sarker, 50, son of Halim Sarker.

Sources said that cutting window grills, a gang of dacoits stormed the house of Abul Sarker and kept the inmates hostage on gun point. Meanwhile, the robbers looted valuables including a licensed gun of Abul Sarker. At one stage, being obstructed, the dacoits opened fire on them, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was sent to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital but he died on the way of hospital.

Confirming the matter, Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Rezaul Haque Dipu said the dacoits attacked the victim with stick leaving him injured. Later, he died. No firing incident took place.
