National election deferred to Dec 30

Staff Correspondent: Following the demand of several political parties, the Election Commission has deferred the 11th parliamentary elections by a week to December 30.  

The Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda made the announcement after inaugurating an exhibition of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in Dhaka’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Monday noon.

Meanwhile, he also said, the commission has extended the nomination filing deadline to November 28. 

Earlier on November 8, the CEC announced that the 11th parliamentary elections will be held on December 23 and the last date for submission of nomination papers is November 19.
