Syed Ashraful Islam’s first janaza held

Staff Correspondent: The first namaz-e-janaza of the former Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Sunday morning.

The namaz-e-janaza was held at 10:30am.

President M Abdul Hamid, Awami League general secretary also bridge Minister Obaidul Quader, Industry minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi and other top officials attended the function.

Syed Ashraful was given the “Guard of Honor” on the Jatiya Sangsad premises after the janaza. Later, President Abdul Hamid Hasina paid his tributes to him.

He died at a hospital in Bangkok at the age of 68 on January 3, 2019. Syed Ashraful had been suffering from lung cancer for a long time. He is survived by a daughter to mourn his death.
