Case filed against 6 expelled BSMRSTU students over ragging

Gopalganj Correspondent: The authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) filed a case against six students, who had been expelled for life for ragging two first-year students.
Assistant Proctor Dr Nazmul Haque filed the case at Sadar Police Station under the Digital Security Act on Tuesday night.
BSMRSTU Proctor Ashiquzzaman Bhuiyan confirmed the filing of the case.
The accused are – Shipon Ahmed, Shahin Mia, Nadim Islam, Hridoy Kumar Dhar, Turzo Hawladar and Ashiquzzaman Limon. They were second-year students of electronics and telecommunication engineering department.
BSMRSTU authorities expelled them on Monday after an investigation found that they had tortured two first-year agriculture department students physically and mentally on February 2.
A video footage of the ragging went viral on Facebook, triggering much criticism from various quarters and demands for the punishment of the accused.
