2 cops arrested for kidnapping youths in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Two officials of the police department have been suspended for allegedly kidnapping three youths in Gazipur.

The two cops are- Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Abdullah Al Mamun and ASI Mushfikur Rahman.

Kaliakoir police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Alamgir Hossain Mojumdar said five youths named Rayhan Sarkar, Labib Uddin, Nowshad Islam, Taribullah and Rakibul Rahman planned to visit Dhaka International Trade Fair on Wednesday afternoon riding a microbus. On the way to their journey, the youths went to a filing station to take fuel for the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the two cops detained Rayhan, Labib and Nowshad in plain dress from Kaliakoir upazila. The cops demanded Tk30 lakh as ransom at first, but later, agreed to release them against Tk10 lakh. Later, on information, police forces from Mirzapur arrested the two policemen, OC Md Alamgir Hossain Mojumdar said.

“No one involved in crime will be spared, no matter who they are, whether a police member or anyone,” police super Shamsunnahar said.
