1 body found, 5 still missing

Staff Correspondent: A woman's body has been recovered after six members of a family went missing when a boat capsized in the Buriganga River in the city’s Sadarghat area.

The deceased was identified as Shahida Begum, wife of Shahjalal. The body was recovered around 11:30am on Thursday.

Those who are still remained missing – Shahjalal’s two daughters -- Mim, 8, and Mahi 6, niece Jamshida, 22, Jamshida's husband Delwar, 27, and their three months old daughter.

Ershad Sikdar, fire service control room officer said, divers from Fire Service, BIWTA and naval police are working to recover the missing people.

Earlier on Thursday, seven members of a family went missing when a boat sank near the Sadarghat Launch Terminal around 10:00pm as a launch named ‘MV Suravi-7’ hit it.
